06 August 2014
There are two teams of each age group (4&5 and 6&7) four groups in total, we decided on seasons.
Summer- Berries and sunshine.
Autumn- Leaves.
Spring- Bees and daisies.
Winter- Snowflakes.
This is my wall at home, I decided that they would be safer up.
Throughout HBC there is a theme, this year was parables (stories Jesus told to explain things) each day was a different story, One day was a story was the Prodigal Son, I made 20 or so gold coins with bright purple detail. Another day was a wedding banquet, so me and my little sister made Roman looking mosaic gold and silver plates, bowls and dishes.

I made signs for each team (Winter seems to have vanished, but promise it looked nice.) Making decorations for young children, means bright contrasting colours and shiny, it may not be overly appealing to adults but children (especially those who cannot read the letters) needed to know where there team was sitting, so these signs helped.
Each morning, every child gets a number to put on these maps and at the end of the week who ever gets closest to the treasure wins a prize. I designed the treasure maps with inspiration from The Cronicals of Narnia maps and also The Lord of the Rings collective maps. They are ripped from cream plain wall paper, and stained to tea and painted with watercolour.
At the end of each day there is a quiz, on the wedding banquet story day the right answers to questions gets a new wedding related item put on the leader (Groom on a woman and bride on a male for comedy). So I was asked to make a bunch of roses for the bride.
Over all It was a fun and exhausting four days that I could use my creative talents to the advantage of others.
